come what may
hey everyone,
we've all been at home for the past month or so - the march tour was amazing! thanks to all those folks and bands that made it possible for us. now that april is almost at an end, we look forward to moving on to new material, some of which we have begun to write in binghamton. the spring will see us playing shows around our home in the northeast, as well as gathering up the new songs into a cohesive record by the end of the summer. we hope to see you all soon

march is nearly upon us, and with the new month comes many exciting new adventures for all of us. first and foremost, we will be travelling down the coast - playing shows as we go - to south by southwest in Austin, TX. we're proud to say that Hotchacha will be joining us for the duration of the journey. we would love to see you in your hometown. the majority of the tour is posted, so come on out.
this past month of february we were on the road briefly with our new friends Porches and our old friends Underground River, among others. along the way we were fortunate enough to have our pal mike with us to shoot some video. check it out here! http://www.youtube.com/user/summerppl . more videos are soon to come, we're in the process of editing out the scrap and refining the gold.

We have launched a very exciting project to fund the pressing of Teamwork on vinyl, and to convert our van into a renewable fuel powered beast. The project will only last for 42 DAYS so check out the rad pledges, which allow you to receive test pressings, exclusive 7-inches, colored vinyl, tees, etc. We hope you are as excited about this venture as we are! Please help us spread the word.
BTW, We are still on the road in Georgia and heading north!

There continues to be more and more quality news! We have been added to a rad compilation through Exploding in Sound music blog. The comp consists of two volumes which include artist like Low, Hella, True Widow, ... Trail of the Dead, and so many other great bands. It is a privilege to be included. Check out the comp here.
Also, as we continue to tour the mid-west and east coast, please check the upcoming tour dates with HotChaCha, and Zlam Dunk. There are some radical shows on this tour. Our new split EP with HotChaCha, "Do it" is available on vinyl throughout the tour! We promise you will not be disappointed in this follow-up to our release of "Teamwork" in March. We will be launching a Kickstarter project for the pressing of "Teamwork" on vinyl. Expect this within the coming week.
Several tracks from "Good Problems" have been selected for an upcoming independent film entitled "Whisper Me a Lullaby". It has been a pleasure working with Christine, and we are looking forward to the finished product. We have some other tracks that should be streamed on a couple TV series as well... we will keep you up to speed.

Greetings nerds. We've got some great news for you...
We are very excited to announce that we will be releasing a 12 inch split with our new best friends Hotchacha. Exit Stencil will be responsible for releasing the mayhem and hopefully it'll be released by late August; just in time for our gigantic 48 date tour. On top of being able to spend so much quality time with HCC (we are sharing a van), we will also have the pleasure of tearing it up with the wonderful Zlam Dunk in both Texas and the northeast dates. Get pumped!
We hope for "Teamwork" to be out on vinyl by then, and if all goes well, we will also have a cool video for Elsewhere. Keep your fingers crossed! In the meantime come out and see us this weekend and next. We miss you.

We are back from tour and continue to book more shows in support of our new release, "TEAMWORK". Thanks to everyone who has picked up a copy of the album thus far!
Three new April dates have been added, and northeast tours for May and June are close to completed. Beyond that point, we will continue booking shows / tours for other regions.
TEAMWORK vinyl is in the works... no dates are set yet. TEAMWORK is available on cassette through Life On An Island. Check it out!

We are still on the road - headed to Birmingham, AL today.
There have been two new shows added to the TOUR DATES. March 20th in Austin @ Green House, and March 26th in Bloomington, IN. If you are in Austin, TX for SXSW be sure to go to at least one of our three shows. Tell a friend.

The tour kicked off in Albany, NY (check out the show review: http://keepalbanyboring.com/2011/recap-red-lions-summer-people-aficionado-hrch/) and the band is headed south for SXSW in Austin, TX. SP plans on playing some northeast shows once they return in early to mid April.

The official release date for SP's sophomore release, "Teamwork" is Tuesday, March 1st, 2011. Pre-order will be available within the next week. Happy New Year! Two thousand and eleven has had a fantastic start as tracking for the new album has been completed! With production moving to mixing, we couldn't be more thrilled with the progression of this self-release. We eagerly anticipate its release in March. You will not be disappointed!
Back in August, on our way through New York City, we stopped by the home of ifyoumakeit.com to record a 'Pink Couch Sessions' video for 'Great Northern Diver' off of 'Good Problems'. The video was posted a week ago - it's quite the video!
Keep checking the tour dates for new shows. There will be cd release shows and tours announced within the coming days.

Good morning.
Summer People have several shows coming up around the holiday season: Dec18th (TODAY) in Binghamton NY, Dec.29th in Brooklyn NY, and Dec31st in Albany NY.
We are set to record a full-length record at the end of the month and into January. It is SP's priority to get these new tracks recorded and in you hands. Expect them soon.
SP has only been playing a handful of shows throughout the last few months. We are looking forward to getting back at it once the record is released.

SP has added a NEW demo track to Facebook and Myspace from their upcoming sophomore release (find the links on the home page). Go check it out! Another demo track will be posted on Monday, November 22nd. Both tracks will be streaming on the website soon. SP is set to record in early 2011.

Since returning from tour, Summer People have been busy preparing to record demos for new material. This past weekend (Oct. 1-3) SP was joined by Stephen Roessner (of Saxon Shore) to engineer four tracks in preparation for a new record. Look for the demo tracks here on summerppl.com within the near future.
SP will be performing tonight in Ithaca, New York at The Haunt with Marnie Sterns, Bees///, and the Dan Drake ensemble. Also, be sure to check out new dates that have/will be added to the website periodically. SP will be play at CMJ Music Marathon in NYC mid-October.

Welcome to the NEW home of Summer People. It is a thrill to have an official site where we can keep you posted on any new updates. It is SP hope that you visit this address for upcoming shows, music, and the like. Many thanks to Heather Hynes for her talent and dedication to making this site happen.
SP returned from their 2.5 week tour of the northeast last week and are actively booking shows for the fall, and prepping for the coming year by writing new music. The tour was a huge success. Many thanks to the promoters and most importantly, those of you who attended the shows. As of October, SP will begin recording new material and couldn't be more excited.
If you are not aware, SP's debut album 'Good Problems' was released in February of this year. Thank you to those who have purchase the record. 'Good Problems' can be purchased directly through the band or on most internet sites.
